Mariacarla Boscono

October 23, 2002

Wow... this IS the kind of picture that makes me can't get enuff of Mariacarla! So cute. Someone posted the image yesterday in the message board and I decided to feature it here today. This was the fall 2001 advertisement for a Korean fashion brand called Mine. A must see for any Mariacarla fan out there.

Three images of "Bacchanal" (NOT Bach's Anal), a mediocre editorial from W (October 2002). The entire thing occupies 20 pages, with photos by Fabien Baron. I'm still missing some more Mariacarla images from this editorial. The scans are borrowed from Maria's Shatterscans collection.

Mariacarla at the Montana spring-summer 2003 show in Paris (October 6, 2002). Expect me to add more photos soon, including the backstage photos from the recent fashion weeks.

High fashion time. We have two editorials and a lot of runway photos related to today's theme, haute couture. The first image was scanned from Vogue UK (October 2002) by Jim. It's a part of "Couture Club" editorial, which was photographed by Anders Overgaard.

Next is "Couture Carnival", an editorial from Harper's Bazaar US (October 2002). The photographer is Karl Lagerfeld. Click here to view all 12 pages of this editorial, as scanned by Leon.

Mariacarla could also be seen on the collages that are enclosed within the aforementioned "Couture Carnival" editorial. There is one small image of her in the second collage, and two in the third.

Continuing the theme of the day, I also opened a new page for Fall-Winter 2002/2003 haute couture fashion week in Paris (July 8 to 11 this year). Click the image now to view 71 photos from Anne-Valérie Hash, Chanel, Christian Dior, Christian Lacroix, Givenchy, Jean Paul Gaultier, Pierre Balmain and Valentino shows.

Mariacarla had finished her works for the official Spring-Summer 2003 pret-a-porter fashion weeks. She'll return to the runways again early next year, for the haute couture fashion week. The exclusive features are all online now, so just choose your destination: New York (September 17 to 23), Milan (September 23 to October 1) or Paris (October 3 to 11). Today I added some more photos to those features.

Douglas Hannant (September 17, 2002). This was Mariacarla's first show in the last New York fashion week, according to the schedule that I have.

Paco Rabanne (October 7, 2002). Just another great show in Paris. See through her!

Valentino (October 8, 2002). One of few last shows that Mariacarla did in Paris recently. Chanel was the last one, if I'm not mistaken.

• The photos from Alexander McQueen show are added to the Paris page. I decided not to display them here because it's a terrible show, although not as lunatic as John Galliano's circus.

• Detailed photos of several previously-added shows. On top are two photos of DKNY and three photos of Tommy Hilfiger. On bottom are one photo each for Anne Klein, Oscar de la Renta, Antonio Berardi, Fendi and Marni. The other 13 detail shots are focused to Mariacarla's dress, bag, shoes, sandals, etc. Browse through the spring-summer 2003 section to find them.

October 10, 2002

Second update for Paris. 62 photos (of Chanel, Hussein Chalayan, John Galliano, Louis Vuitton, Martine Sitbon, Stella McCartney, Viktor & Rolf and YSL Rive Gauche shows) have been added to the main Paris page. As always, we have some interesting shots in the style page. The last two photos on the page were taken at the launching party of Dior Addict, which was happening on October 5 in Paris.

Also new to the site are photos of Luca Luca show in New York. You can see them right here right now. The last three photos are from another show, Massimo Rebecchi, in Milan.

We're getting closer to the end of Paris spring-summer 2003 fashion week. The first batch of photos from this event are viewable by clicking the image above, including the Balenciaga, Celine, Christian Dior, Costume National, Helmut Lang, Jean Paul Gaultier, Lagerfeld Gallery and Yohji Yamamoto shows. Click here to view the additional photos. More shows will be added soon.

The backstage page is re-opened. The page has now been splitted according to the seasons. There are 147 new backstage photos, all from the fall-winter 2002/2003 fashion weeks which happened earlier this year on February-March. Some photos are not focused to Mariacarla, so you'll need to look really close on these just to see the girl.

October 5, 2002

This weekend we're rounding up our coverage of the recent fashion week in Milan. 149 new photos have been added to the Milan spring-summer 2003 page. The shows included are Alberta Ferretti, Antonio Berardi, Blumarine, Gianfranco Ferré, Gucci, Marni, Maska, Max Mara, Missoni, Moschino, Moschino Cheap & Chic, Roberto Cavalli (check out four photos above, killer stuff!) and Versus. Meanwhile the fashion week has just been started in Paris on last Thursday. A runway report will follow shortly.

These photos were taken at the rehearsal of Lagerfeld Gallery fall-winter 2002/2003 show in Paris. They're not new, but still very cool, especially to see two favorite models of mine, Jeisa and Mariacarla, in the third picture. I always smile to myself whenever I look at Mariacarla's silly face there.

The Milan spring-summer 2003 page has been updated with 37 photos from various shows: Anna Molinari, Alessandro Dell'Acqua, Dolce & Gabbana, Emilio Pucci, Fendi and Mila Schön. Click the left-image to find all the new additions, which include that funny looking Mariacarla pic above. Don't forget to click the right-image to view more pics from Milan, especially the backstage ones.

As a bonus, here is one picture of Armani Exchange (otherwise known as A|X) fall 2001 advertisements. Scanned from the August 2001 issue of Rolling Stone, by Maria.

Welcome to the new home of my Mariacarla Boscono site: www.mariacarlaboscono.com
Before I receive any credit, I must thank my good friend Jim Reis for giving me this chance to use the domain name and web space. It was Jim who came up with the brilliant idea of moving into www.mariacarlaboscono.com on Mariacarla's birthday. It's late, but here is Jim's birthday present for Mariacarla. Of course, we also have one scan from the man himself.

A naked picture is just perfect for a brand new start! This one is a piece of "Pinup!" editorial, photographed by Tom Munro for the autumn-winter 2002 issue of Pop magazine. It's too dark, I know. Interesting facts: Mariacarla's current size is 34-24-34 (the bust gets bigger, the hips get smaller), she likes antique shopping at flea markets and her pin-up is Sophia Loren.

We have two new photo albums for New York and Milan spring-summer 2003 fashion weeks. Fresh from the oven, courtesy of the best resource out there, firstVIEW. Mariacarla is still on the road for these fashion shows, so expect more photos to come soon.

Last but not least, let me stress that this website is still very much unofficial despite that the final movement has been made. Mind you, becoming official isn't my intention of making a tribute to Mariacarla.

September 26, 2002

Looks like we won't have to wait too long for another Numéro editorial. That's right, Mariacarla is back in Numéro #36 (September 2002) just after her previous appearance on the July-August edition. Special thanks to Jim who scanned the images for me.

At first, I was skeptical when I realized that "La couture vue de haut" (1) is a haute couture inspired editorial and (2) was photographed by Karl Lagerfeld. Thankfully, Mariacarla is in her finest moments through out this editorial, which leads into something classy in the vein of Dreamer. Dream away...

to view Mariacarla's photos from the latest fashion week in New York. Soon I will update the runways section with firstVIEW photos of the fall-winter 2002/2003 and spring-summer 2003 fashion weeks. Stay tuned for that, and also for an even bigger surprise!

September 20, 2002

Mariacarla turns 22-years-old today. Happy birthday, Mariacarla! We wish you well...
At the moment, Mariacarla is in New York for the spring-summer 2003 fashion week. So far, she had done shows for Behnaz Sarafpour, Diane Von Furstenberg, DKNY, Michael Kors, Oscar de la Renta and Tommy Hilfiger. Hmm, will there be a little birthday party going on at the backstage?

Here is an editorial from Vogue Nippon (October 2002). The cover plus three other editorials of this issue are currently being featured on the latest update of Wind From Far East. "Men's Club" wasn't included there, and it ended up on my Mariacarla site... of course with thanks to Takayu himself for sending it to me. Domo arigato!

"Mariacarla: A Dazzling Beauty", by Mario Testino. Taken from Vogue Italia (September 2002). This 16-pages editorial has a total of 12 photos, all inspired by the Italian 'it' girl herself. If only there are more images like the last picture...

Scans are courtesy of supermodels.it. Scanned by ironbed.

September 11, 2002

We've reached the end of the summer days... the time has come for fall ads onslaught!
The images are taken from September 2002 issues of Harper's & Queen UK (Moschino), Vogue UK (Moschino), Harper's Bazaar US (Moschino, DKNY) and W (Moschino, Ungaro). Scans are provided by Jolie, Maria and Leon.

• Mariacarla said in an interview that one of her campaigns for this fall is a new Michael Kors fragrance, with photographer Fabien Baron. Don't ask me why, but what we've got here doesn't look like a perfume ad at all.

Moschino is still retaining the lesbian chic imagery in the new campaigns. Mariacarla Boscono and Natasha Vojnovic are doing it for Moschino, and so are Delfine Balfort and Valerie Sipp for Moschino Cheap & Chic. Shockingly, Mariacarla also did it with An Oost on the last Moschino show. Calm down, they just went 'cheek-to-cheek', not kissing each other.

• More from Emanuel Ungaro campaign. All photos by Karen Collins. It's still incomplete, though. For example, this month's Spanish Vogue has another Ungaro ad which is a facial shot that I haven't even seen yet.

• The return of the DKNY ads. Photographed by Peter Lindbergh.

Is that all there is? Yep, that's all for part one. Part two will be online when I've got enough materials, including the Gaultier, Valentino and Versus campaigns. Anyone could help me out with those?

September 7, 2002

The campaigns showcase isn't ready yet, but here are few stuffs to keep the site updated. First, one backstage photo of Clements Ribeiro spring-summer 2002 show, scanned from Elle UK (July 2002) by Jolie.

Mariacarla at the fall-winter 2002/2003 Haute Couture fashion week in Paris (July 2002). Clockwise from top-left: Christian Dior (1), Christian Lacroix (1), Givenchy (3), Jean Paul Gaultier (1) and Valentino (3).

Mariacarla also returned to her hometown, Rome, on late July for the Alta Moda fashion week. I believe she was on Rocco Barocco alta moda show. Please contact me if you know where to find photos from this event.

Mariacarla with designer Jeremy Scott and model Delfine Balfort, at a party celebrating Jeremy's debut show in NY. It was held in a venue called Discotheque, on February 20, 2002, few days after the fashion week had ended. Click here if you care to read more about it. Photo: Brooke Williams (STYLE.com).

September 2, 2002

Today is the first anniversary of my Mariacarla Boscono site. I would like to take this time to thank everyone who had helping hands in keeping this site alive, and also to all the supporters and visitors as well. A celebration will follow later this month, in a coincidence with Mariacarla's birthday of course. Now, check out these forgotten gems.

• A feature on "Maria Carla" and her personal clothing style, from Vogue Russia (August 2002). Italy is the main theme of this issue, that's why Mariacarla is featured inside. Thanks to Jim for scanning this cool backstage photo. It's an original picture for Russian Vogue, so I include it on the eds page though this is not essentially an editorial by any means. Oh, click here and here to see Mariacarla wearing the same old red shirt.

• This is a pretty funny photo from Jalouse US (July 2001). You can view Mariacarla's cover and editorial from the issue here, but it seems that Jim forgot to scan the so-called final frame. Thanks to Maria, the puzzle is completed.

• Back to the fall 2001 season when Mariacarla was all over USA with the Calvin Klein campaigns, shot by Steven Klein. This was scanned from InStyle (October 2001), also by Maria. I'm still missing at least one more pic of this CK Jeans ad.

• Mariacarla's latest campaign, Jean Paul Gaultier (photographed by Jean Baptiste Mondino), has just been released. So far it could only be seen on Japanese magazines, hence thanks to Takayu for the scan. This Gaultier ad easily blows away other fall 2002 ads that feature Mariacarla, including Moschino, Kors, Ungaro and DKNY. These adverts will be showcased here soon.

• Mariacarla is in the new advertisement of Viva You, a Japan-only brand that is very popular amongst the Japanese women, particularly those who have much attention about fashion. Currently, this picture is also being displayed on the covers and ads section of Takayu's website.
